KOH PHANGAN ISLAND

Koh-PhaNgan is the fifth biggest island of Thailand with a surface of 191 km² ( TAT Tourist Authority of Thailand). It’s part of the province of Suratthani which is situated on the main land, about 100 kilometres West. The nearest islands are Koh Samui (nearly 20 km.) and Koh Tao, up North, (about 65 km.).

The surface is here and there covered by untouched tropical forest, and its mountains slows down a development too fast.The faun on the island is enormous but difficult to observe, it counts about 200 different species.The island has a total of 30 splendid white beaches and a lot of beautiful small desert beaches. Even with its road and tracks, not always in top condition, it has something of paradise.

Koh-PhaNgan has always been a spiritual place for its natives and still today it is a piece of paradise. 40 % of Koh-PhaNgan is classified « Than Sadet National Park », which should preserve the island from a wild touristy development.
